HOSUR: A twice-married man, who murdered an elderly man, allegedly after the latter refused to offer his 12-year-old granddaughter’s hand in marriage to him, was arrested by the Thally police on Thursday.Mallesh (35), son of Uleerappa of Mudugerdoddi village near Thally, has been married twice.Recently, Mallesh became close to the family of Maraappa (60), a resident of Poojaridoddi village. Later, Mallesh expressed his interest in marrying Marappa’s 12-year-old granddaughter, a Class VII student. However, Marappa refused to accept the proposal. Enraged over this, on April 13, Mallesh attacked Marrappa with a sickle, killing him.He also attacked Marappa’s daughter Valliammal, severely injuring her. A special police team was subsequently formed to nab Mallesh, who was reportedly hiding in the Denkanikotta forest area. Two days ago, Mallesh surrendered before Palayankottai VAO Madesh. He was subsequently produced in court and remanded in Salem Central Jail.
