HYDERABAD: In spite of the government's efforts, there is no improvement in coal production at Singareni Collieries, particularly in the mines in Karimnagar and Adilabad districts. However, there is marginal improvement in the attendance of miners at Manuguru, Kothagudem, Yellandu and Sathupally.
In all, about 38,900 tonnes of coal was produced as against the normal daily output of 1.35 lakh tonnes. Of that, about 15,000 tonnes was supplied to NTPC, 12,000 tonnes to KTPS, Palvancha and the remaining to private customers who include captive power units. The miners' strike, as part of the Sakalajanula Samme for Telangana cause, entered the fifth day on Saturday.

As for APGenco power units, it is running its hydel stations to full capacity but the thermal stations are facing coal shortage. The hydel generation on Friday stood at 43.98 million units whereas the total power output was 113.8 million units. The hydel units at peak hours worked at 2667 MW capacity and the thermal units at 3095 MW.
