THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The doctors of Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital on Monday observed ‘black day’ in protest against the attack on doctors by the relatives of a patient who died at the hospital the other day.  They also staged a dharna at the hospital in which the members of various medical associations, including Indian Medical Association, Kerala Government Medical College Teachers Association, Kerala Government Medical Officers Association, PG House Surgeons and Medicos Association took part.  Former state president of IMA, Dr Alex Fanklin, who inaugurated the dharna demanded that the Hospital Protection Act should be implemented without any delay to prevent such incidents in future. The doctors of the hospital were attacked after a 68-year-old man, Meera Sahib of Nedumangad who was brought to the hospital following severe chest pain on Friday died at the hospital due to cardiac arrest.  The relatives of the deceased alleging that lack of proper care on the part of the doctors caused the death attacked the doctors. Duty doctor Kripesh, Medical Officer Dr Renjith and PG doctor Balawan were injured in the attack. The Medical College police had also registered a case in this regard.
