BANGALORE: Four Fire Department officials have been suspended in connection with the mock drill accident where Nalina Reddy, an employee of a factory was killed on Friday. Director General of Police, Fire and Emergency Services, A R Infant ordered the suspension of district fire officers of Peenya and Hebbal stations Devaraju and K Narayanaswamy and fire station officers of High Grounds and Yeshwantpur, Nisar Ahmed and Mariyanna, as they were prima-facie found to be negligent in their duties.They were suspended with immediate effect till further orders as their negligence was found in the preliminary investigation. Infant told Express that a departmental enquiry was pending against them and based on the final report, further action would be decided. “Investigation is also being done to ascertain the role of other staff members in the tragedy. If they are at fault, action will be taken against them also,” he said.He also said the Bombay Rayon Fashion Limited, where Nalina was working, had offered a compensation of Rs 5 lakh to the victim’s family members.
