MSME Trade Fair kicks off

ROURKELA: A buyer-seller meet was held on  day two of the MSME International Trade Fair. The fair that aims to boost industrial growth by fostering workable links between mega and small industries started on Wednesday evening. The five-day MSME (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise) event is being organised under the aegis of the National Small Industries Corporation Ltd (NSIC) and the Industry Department (DoI), Odisha here.Principal Secretary to DoI, Odisha, T Ramachandru inaugurated the fair in the presence of Sundargarh District Collector Rupa Roshan Sahu, National Institute of Technology-Rourkela Director Prof SK Sarangi and Rourkela Steel Plant Chief Executive Officer GS Prasad.Chief guest T Ramachandru stressed industrial growth for economic development and to address the issue of unemployment. The Collector invited more entrepreneurs to set up industries in the district and emphasised on sustainability of industrial units.Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd, SAIL, Hindustan Aeronautical Ltd and Mecon are the major participants. On display are engineering and technology used by mining and metal-based industries besides a wide array of products and technologies from manufacturing and service sectors.
