BANGALORE: The MSME-Defence Expo 2012 will be held in the city from March 2 to 4. Speaking at a curtain raiser press conference to announce the event, M Maheshwar Rao, Commissioner, Industries and Commerce Department, said that the defence and aerospace sector is opening up in a substantial manner and is expected to attract a large number of investors. The event is said to be supported by the National Small Industries Corporation and other industry associations in the State. The expo, in its second edition, is likely to focus on sub-contracting,supply exhibition for defence,aerospace and homeland security. Added to this, a technical workshop by KPMG on the sector ‘Local Strengths for a Global Reach - The Indian A&D SME Transformation’, would also be held by the Bangalore Chamber of Industry and Commerce during the event. Private aerospace giants from other countries such as Star Defence, Boeing, Elbit, SAAB along with Indian defence public sector units like Bharath Electronics, National Aerospace Laboratories and Indian Space Research Organisation would also take part in the three-day event. Delegates from US,UK,Israel,South Africa,Japan and Rwanda among others are expected to participate in the expo, the organisers added.
