New Delhi: Two girls from Faridabad and Mumbai shared the top honours by securing 98.4 per cent marks in the Class XII exam conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education as 81 per cent of 6.37 lakh candidates cleared the test.
Tannvi Aggrawal from Apeejay School, Faridabad, and Mritika Sen, student of Rajhans Vidyalaya Andheri West, Mumbai, emerged toppers in the test, held in March this year, securing 492 marks out of 500.
While Aggrawal is from Commerce stream, Sen wrote the papers in Science stream, the CBSE said.
In Delhi region, Subhasis Vadra of DPS R K Puram secured the first position with 490 marks in Science stream while Priyanka Bagai of Convent of Jesus and Mary, Central Delhi, topped in the Commerce stream with 488 marks.
Girls registered a pass percentage of 85.94 against 77.40 of boys.
A total of 6,37,976 students were registered for this year's exam. This year's pass percentage marks an increase of 0.09 per cent over the pass rate of last year.
A total of 3,40,876 students, including 1,61,139 girls, secured over 60 per cent marks. In Delhi, 71,130 students, including 38,622 girls, got more than 60 per cent marks.
Chennai region registered the best performance by students as 92.06 per cent cleared the test. Over 86 per cent candidates got through in Ajmer region followed by 84.25 per cent clearing the test in Delhi region.
In Gulf, the overall pass percentage is 93.26. A total of 7,519 students appeared in the test of whom 7,012 cleared it.
In a few other countries, about 8,199 students appeared in the test while 7,574 got through.
There were as many as 1,034 disabled candidates of whom 916 cleared the test with 11 of them securing over 90 per cent marks.
Anuj Goel, a student of Rajkiya Prativa Vikash Vidyalaya in Salimar Bagh in Delhi, secured the first position among the group with 96.6 per cent marks.
As many as 1,020 students, including 544 girls, secured over 95 per cent marks. Similarly, 15,839 students, including 8,059 girls, got over 90 per cent marks.
Students of Jawahar Navoday Vidyalaya (JNV) have registered over 94 per cent pass rate against 92 per cent last year.
Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangthan (KVS) have witnessed good
performance with its 91.32 per cent students clearing the
test.
About 82 per cent students of government schools have
cleared the test.
