Mumbai: Mumbai police has registered a case against a man for allegedly threatening a woman journalist on Twitter that she will be "gangraped" in two days.

Following a complaint by the woman, a case was registered against a person with the Twitter account 'Amendra Kumar Singh', a senior police official said.

The tweet came a while after the female journalist uploaded her pictures from a protest march in Mumbai condemning attack on journalists in Patiala House Court in New Delhi.

A case under section 354(a)1 (outraging modesty), 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) 506 (2) (criminal intimidation) of IPC has been lodged at Azad Maidan police station and no arrest has been made in this connection, police said.
