Mystery shrouds 'death' of Jain sadhavi
A Jain sadahvi's remains were discovered in her room leading some to believe she burnt herself by meditating.

Nagpur: Ashes and a few bones, believed to be the remains of a young Jain sadhavi were discovered from her room at Oswal Bhavan in Nagpur, police said, leading some Jains to claim she burned herself by meditation.

A section of Jains felt it was a miracle, claiming she had burnt herself through yoga and meditation, but police said that the room was intact and that there were no signs of burning or leaping flames in the room, deepening the mystery.

Two other sadhavi said they smelt something foul emanating from Shri Riddishri's room on Sunday. When they looked into her room, they were shocked to see "ashes and a skull bone."

Zonal Deputy Commissioner of Police P T Patil said that the ashes and bones have been sent to a forensic laboratory and the police were investigating all possible angles.

A case of accidential death has been registered.

A note was recovered from her room which stated: 'Think what your tasks are while living and ask yourself what have you done while dying'.

Patil ruled out any miracle and said the job of the police is not to follow wrong leads like miracles or superstition but find out the truth.

A police team is going to visit her native village in Rajasthan to look for more leads.
