New Delhi: The BJP president L K Advani has described the Bihar Assembly election results as a political earthquake, which would prove to be a significant 'milestone' for the development of Indian democracy.
Talking about the big victory for the JD(U)-BJP alliance, Advani said that the people of Bihar have voted against the 'Lalu-Rabri Devi misrule' and has elected the NDA to rule Bihar.
He said that he was confident that the NDA government under Nitish Kumar's leadership would provide clean and good governance and take the state back on the track of development.
He added that the RJD government always promoted caste politics and pursued vote bank politics.
"The NDA always highlighted the issues concerning the people like power, road and water in all elections since 1997. They have highlighted the same agenda in this election also," said Advani.
Praising the Election Commission for holding a free and fair election in Jammu and Kashmir and Bihar, he hoped EC would also maintain this record in West Bengal, where the Assembly elections are due in April.
Asked if the Bihar election results will change his decision to leave the party in December, Advani said that there was no change in his decision to demit office.
However, speculation was rife that if the election results went in favour of the NDA in Bihar, there was a possibility that Advani would reconsider his decision about his resignation.
