New Delhi: The much awaited CBSE NEET 2017 results were announced on Friday. The National Eligibility and Entrance Test is conducted for admission to MBBS and BDS in government and private colleges.
When the results are declared, students and parents alike undergo huge stress. It is quite normal to feel anxious for the ambiguity this situation puts us in. Whether we come out with flying colors, top among our friends, perform average or below average, the thousands of permutations and combinations of our score and college lists can be mind-boggling.
The mantra is to keep calm, wait for the colleges to start counselling and understand that it is only the verdict of one exam/assessment we gave, for which even if we failed, we can get another chance. The qualified candidates have to complete the formalities with the respective counselling authorities - DGHS, and Medical Education Directorates of States for admission to MBBS or BDS Courses.
Here are few steps you can take to keep yourself poised while you wait for your admission:
1. Do Not Start the Countdown
It is the first trap of building stress and get yourself into fire-fighting mode. Rather enjoy the gap by engaging yourself in your favorite sports, sleeping well, reading a good book and looking out for further career options and alternatives.
2. Talk Your Heart Out
Do not bottle up your feelings. If you are worried, it’s better to talk to your parents, siblings, your best friend or even your coach. Elders often give a better perspective by sharing instances from their past. The reality is even your parents or teachers have also faced testing times and they managed to emerge to where they are today with perseverance and self-belief.
3. Believe in Yourself
No matter how many times others tell you that you are capable of getting admission in a good college, it is. You who can truly assure yourself of your capabilities. The key is to believe in yourself even when you know that you may not do well in this particular exam. Commit to yourself that you’ll put more effort the next time, if the results are not what everyone expects them to be.
4. Handle The Big Day
It’s important for you to handle your results day with ease. If you feel too nervous, it’s better to deep breathe, watch a movie, tell yourself like a mamma - ‘keep calm baby coz this too shall pass.’
5. Move On
Life doesn’t stop with one bad result. It is a continuing series of tests and results. If today you failed, plan for tomorrow. Move on and start afresh with a new canvas!
