New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Tuesday announced the results of much-awaited National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test — phases 1 and 2 a day earlier than expected.
Het Shah from Gujarat emerged as the country topper with a score of 685 out of 720, followed by Ekansh Goyal from Odisha scoring 682 and Nikhil Bajiya from Rajasthan scoring 678.
NEET-2016 result will be available on 'Digilocker' website at http://results.digilocker.gov.in, a CBSE initiative which is a mobile-friendly website.
According to the Hindustan Times the top three rankers in the examination are students from a coaching institute in Kota, Rajasthan.
Of the 7.1 lakhs students who appeared, 4.09 lakh students qualified in the test out of which 2.26 lakh are girl students.
Around 19,300 students qualified for the the 15% all-India quota seats in government medical colleges across the country and admissions to private and deemed institutes in Maharashtra will be done on the basis of these NEET scores.
CBSE said it has provided All India Rank to the candidates and admission authorities will draw a merit list based on the rank for MBBS and BDS seats.
Reports also suggest that girls have outnumbered boys yet again even though there were 11,058 males compared with 8,266 female applicants in the top 15 percent.
CBSE also gave details as per which both in NEET-I and NEET-II, 26 candidates were identified using unfair practices in the examination.
These candidates have been debarred permanently from appearing in the medical entrance examination conducted by the board.
NEET-I was conducted at 1,040 centres in 52 cities all over India and abroad and NEET-II was conducted at 739 centres in 56 cities in India.
