Kathmandu: Peace talks between the Nepal government and Maoist rebels to help end the decade-long insurgency in the Himalayan nation have been postponed by another ten days to give the two parties more time for preparations.
The Summit-level talks were postponed after an informal consultation between Prime Minister G P Koirala and Maoist leader Prachanda.
"The summit talks have been postponed by another ten days keeping in view the Dusshera festival and to give more time for more preparations," Nepali Congress General Secretary Ramchandra Poudyal said.
The talks were on Wednesday re-scheduled to Friday due to the funeral of those killed in last week's helicopter crash.
The Government-Maoist Summit Talks will be crucial in helping restore peace and stability in the country.
Issues like arms management, finalising an interim constitution, forming an interim government, deciding modalities of the constituent assembly polls and deciding the position of the King are on the agenda of the talks.
