NGOs to build Indiramma houses

WARANGAL: The Warangal district administration has decided to entrust the task of building Indiramma houses for SCs and STs to non-government organisations.As many as 36,560 houses of SCs and STs in the district had not been grounded for the last three years. Of this, 19,450 belonged to SCs and 17,110 to STs.Additional joint collector Sanjeevaiah, two days ago, held a meeting with representatives of 30 NGOs in the district in this regard and the latter formally agreed to the proposal.The NGOs representatives have decided to meet the Indiramma beneficiaries in their native places and know about their problems.In the rural areas, `45,000 would be sanctioned for each house. Apart from this, the beneficiaries can also avail a bank loan of Rs 20,000 for completion of the house.In urban areas, the government would sanction `55,000 for the construction of the house.Apart from this, beneficiaries can also take a loan of `30,000. About `3,050 would be sanctioned towards building toilet for each house.The additional joint collector said that houses would be handed over to the beneficiaries after completion of construction.The 36,560 houses had been sanctioned long ago but construction was not taken up by beneficiaries.Coming to a conclusion that the beneficiaries can never start the works, the decision to hand over works to NGOs was taken.
