NHRC seeks report from Chhattisgarh government within 2 weeks over Bilaspur botched-up sterilisation case
Allegedly, more than 83 women were operated within six hours using infected surgical tools.

New Delhi: The National Human Rights Commission(NHRC) has sent a notice to the Chhatisgarh government over Bilaspur incident demanding a report into the incident within two weeks.

12 women died and more than 70 others were in a serious condition following sterilization on the 8th November, 2014 at a Government organised camp in Chhatisgarh's Bilaspur district.

Allegedly, more than 83 women were operated within six hours using infected surgical tools.

Another case of botched sterilisation operation was reported from Chhattisgarh on Wednesday in which four women were admitted to a hospital at Gorela-Pendra in Bilaspur.

These four women were among the 28 women on whom operation was conducted on Sunday in a government organized family planning camp.

A team of doctors from AIIMS will be attending the victims in Chhattisgarh.
