A local court on Monday granted three-day transit remand of two SIMI operatives, including alleged mastermind of Bodhgaya temple blasts Umer Siddiqui, to NIA in connection with explosions at Narendra Modi's rally at Patna in October in which five persons were killed.
They will be produced before a designated court of Patna on Thursday.
"The court of additional chief judicial magistrate Sangeeta Naveen Tiwari granted the transit remand of Siddiqui and Azharuddin Samshuddin Qureshi to NIA and they will be produced in Patna court on Dec 5," City SP (Civil Lines) Rakesh Bhatt told PTI.
Siddiqui, who runs a coaching centre in Raja Talab area in Raipur, is one of the 14 operatives of the banned Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) arrested last month from the state capital Raipur.
According to Chhattisgarh Police, Siddiqui (35) had masterminded July 7 blasts at Bodhgaya temple complex in Bihar and also planned to carry out attack on Narendra Modi during his rallies. Siddiqui, who allegedly operates his own terror module, sheltered the four absconding culprits of Patna serial blasts - Haider Ali alias Abdulla, Numan Alam alias Firoz, Taufiq alias Asif and Mujibulla in Raipur after the incident.
Siddiqui and his associates put them up in a rented house in Sanjay Nagar area. However, they had fled by the time police raided their hideout.
On November 15, Umer Sidhhiqui (35) and Abdul Wahid Khan (54), latter an auto driver of Pandri area, were arrested for their alleged links with the banned group.
Later, 12 others, namely Sheikh Habib Ulla (34), Roshan Sheikh (35), Hayat Khan (45), Abdul Aziz (45), Sheikh Ajijullah (38), Moinuddin Kureshi (37), Md Dawood (38), Md Aslam (28) Sheikh Subhan (48), Mohammed Saeed Abdul Jaleel (50), Azharuddin Samshuddin Qureshi (19), and Aamer Bin Wahid (19) were also arrested in this connection.
Police said Azharuddin was involved collecting funds for the group and also attended camps organised by Siddiqui's terror module. All the accused are currently lodged in Raipur.
