Months after the terrorist attack in Gurdaspur in Punjab, US has confirmed that the night vision device found by Indian forces in the aftermath of the attack did belong to them.
US has confirmed that the night vision device was lost in Afghanistan on a battlefield in early 2010.
According to sources, Pentagon confirmed that the device used by terrorists in Gurdaspur was in the inventory of US armed forces.
CNN-IBN had reported in July that the night vision device, which were found on a railway track near Gurdaspur, had US government markings on them. US troops lost many such devices in Afghanistan.
The night vision devices that have been found might have been smuggled from Afghanistan with the help of terror modules there. It was also said that the coordinates of the attack site were pre-fed into the GPS devices used by the three terrorists on the July 21, 2015.
Investigations have also revealed that the terrorists crossed into India between July 26 and July 27. GPS data recovered shows the terrorists came from Tash in Pakistan's Shakargarh area. After crossing Ravi river they sneaked into Punjab before reaching Talwandi and planted five IEDs at Talwandi on the Amritsar-Pathankot railway line.
