Allahabad High Court was on Tuesday  informed by the Uttar Pradesh government that no structure has been demolished in Rampur district at the behest of state minister Azam Khan, as alleged in a contempt petition.

The submission was made by Advocate General VC Mishra, assisted by senior counsels SMA Kazmi and OS Siddiqui before Justice Vikram Nath who was hearing a contempt petition filed by Nawab Qaim Ali, a Congress MLA who represents Suar constituency of Rampur.

The petitioner had alleged that Hamid Gate, a historical building situated in Rampur city, has been demolished following instructions from Khan, notwithstanding a court order dated December 10, 2013 restraining the state government from doing so.

The court asked the petitioner to file his reply to the submission made on behalf of the minister and fixed March 25 as the next date of hearing in the matter.
