BANGALORE: Beware of bursting crackers in public, it may land you in jail. The High Court on Monday directed the state to follow Supreme Court orders during Diwali. Hearing a petition, the division bench comprising of Acting Chief Justice Vikramajit Sen and Justice A S Bopanna directed the state to follow the order which states that fire crackers should not be burst from 10 pm to 6 am on Diwali night, considering the noise and air pollution caused by crackers.It also directed the state not to allow the bursting of crackers in pubic places and directed the authorities to look for suitable open places for the people to burst crackers.City based advocate B V Puttegowda, had filed a PIL seeking ban on the use of crackers during the Diwali festival. He cited several incidents of eye injuries due to the use of crackers. Pointing out some of the reports of the hospitals related to damage of vision due to bursting, he submitted that most of the victims are children below the age of 15 and that some of the hospitals have even recommended the ban.
