Ahmedabad: The Bramha Samaj of Porbandar, a socio-religious sect, on Thursday filed a police complaint against actor Aamir Khan, Yashraj Films and owner of Amber Theatre of Jamnagar following the death of Pravin Joshi in the Fanaa controversy.
The charges are for creating circumstances for Pravin to commit suicide.
Joshi had committed self-immolation on June 11 in the toilet of Amber cinema hall to protest the screening of Fanaa.
"We have received complaint from the Bramha Samaj against Aamir Khan and others and have forwarded the complaint to Jamnagar Police for necessary action," in-charge Deputy Superidentant of Police of Porbandar H R Mulliana said.
The screening of the film was withdrawn by the Cinematographer Exhibitors Association after the actor had taken a stand against Narmada dam issue and participated in a dharna organised by the Narmada Bachao Andolan and its leader Medha Patkar in New Delhi in May.
Meanwhile, the Bramha Samaj of Jamnagar has declared financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh to the family of Joshi.
