Obama calls for compromise on debt ceiling

Washington: US President Barack Obama on Friday called for a compromise to resolve the debt limit crisis.

Obama said that a bill put forward by House of Representatives Speaker John Boehner "does not solve the problem."

"What's clear now is that any solution to avoid default must be bipartisan," he said at the White House.
