On Vidyarambham day, CM becomes a guru

THIRUVANANTHAPURMA: Probably one of his  first under  public glare, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy became a ‘guru’  here on Thursday, while initiating a few tiny tots into the world of  letters and knowledge on the Vijayadasami day. Chandy, known for his patience, became more sensitive and concerned  ane even a bit curious  while he stepped into the holy slot arranged for Vidyarambham at the Vylopilli Samskruthi Bhavan to initiate the kids.While Chandy was somehow  lucky to entice Vismaya Vinod, the first one  lined up to hear  from him and collect letters, Varghese, the second in the line and hailing from a family with roots in Chandy’s own Puthuppally scolded him amid screams. However, the kid had the first letters in his tongue from the leader after much cajoling.Three more kids were also introduced to a new world by  Chandy.The ceremonies started by around 6.15 am. It was organised jointly  by Deseeya Balatharangam and Sabarmati, apart from the Vylopilli Samskruthi Bhavan.The Bhavan has a tradition of  popular political leaders like the late chief minister K Karunakaran initiating kids for  Vidyarambham in the past.
