HYDERABAD: More than 1,200 people thronged the Hari Hara Kala Bhawan on Sunday to celebrate Onam, organised by the Thanal Malayalee Seva Samithi, a socio-cultural organisation based in Hyderabad. The gathering, said to be the largest community gathering in the city, had Malayalees from all over the twin cities. Cultural programmes like dances and various musical events were the highlight of the event. A special treat for expartite Malayalees was the mimicry performed by famous film star Kalabhavan Mani. All the proceedings from the event will be used for charitable purposes.     Thanal Malayalee Seva Samithi is a community established for creating a home away from home for Malaylees living in Hyderabad. The community provides financial aid in fields like education, health and disaster management. They also come up with a magazine, “Thanal Deccan”, which is circulated across the country. Elaborating more on the activities of the community, Raghu Kumar Ambadi, organsiation secretary and editor of Thanal Deccan, says, “We provide scholarships for students. The samithi also holds free medical camps.”
