BODI: The office of State Finance Minister O Panneerselvam in Bodi of Theni district was attacked by some persons, triggering tension in the town.Counting of votes of the municipality election took place at the JKN Higher Secondary School in Bodi. V R Palaniraj, who was contesting for the post of chairman of the municipality as an independent, was declared elected defeating AIADMK candidate A C Balamurugan, by a margin of 11 votes. As soon as the results were declared, a large crowds belonging to both groups gathered near the Thevar statue in Bodi town and started shouting slogans for and against the winner.A team of police personnel led by SP Praveenkumar Abinabu chased the crowds away.The office of Panneerselvam at Subburaj Nagar and the house were attacked by a mob. Glass window panes and water cans had been smashed.
