Over 200 Sovereigns Robbed in Vellore

VELLORE/TIRUVANNAMALAI:  In a major incident robbers snatched 222 sovereigns of gold jewellery from two men outside a gold store in Vellore. The daring robbery took place in the busy Officers Line on Thursday night. Unidentified men on motorcycles grabbed the gold jewellery kept in bags and carried by Subramanian (52) and Sathyanarayan (23) as they were about to enter a jewel store. The two men from private ornament-making company in Coimbatore had come to deliver the jewels to stores in Vellore. The stolen jewels weighed 1.8 kgs and said to be worth `45 lakh. The police are examining footage from security cameras in the area. Israel National Commits Suicide An  tourist  from Israel threw himself before a train in T’Malai on Wednesday. Police said the reason for the suicide is not known. The tourist was identified as 33-year old Goldstein. The incident was reported at Agaramsibbandhi village and he died immediately. He is said to have stayed with an NGO.Police are investigating .
