Pak ODI squad: Kaneria, Sami dropped
Rana Naved-ul-Hasan has been recalled after being dropped in the Karachi Test while Umar Gul is also part of the squad.

Lahore: Leggie Danish Kaneria and pacer Mohammad Sami got the boot while Faisal Iqbal's maiden Test earned him the selectors' nod as Pakistan announced a 16-member squad for the first three ODIs of the five-match series against India.

Shoaib Malik, who missed the final Test after his father expired, is also back in the side as is another all-rounder Yasir Arafat.

Rana Naved-ul-Hasan has been recalled after being dropped in the Karachi Test while injury-prone Umar Gul is also part of the squad.

While Kaneria was axed after his average show in the Test series, off-spinner Arshad Khan has been the beneficiary of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) decision.

The first ODI is scheduled in Peshawar on Monday, followed by Rawalpindi (February 11), Lahore (February 13), Multan (February 16) and Karachi (February 19).

Battling with a back problem, which forced him to sit out the Karachi Test, captain Inzamam-ul-Haq is expected to play the first match.

The National Selection Committee, in consultation with the Captain and Coach of the Pakistan Team, has recommended the players for the first three One-Day International matches against India, a PCB said.

ODI Squad: Inzamam-ul Haq (C), Younis Khan (VC), Mohammad Yousuf, Abdul Razzaq, Shoaib Akhtar, Shahid Afridi, Shoaib Malik, Kamran Akmal, Arshad Khan, Salman Butt, Rana Naved, Imran Farhat, Faisal Iqbal, Umar Gul, Mohammad Asif, Yasir Arafat.
