Mumbai: Union Minister Prakash Javadekar on Tuesday condemned the repeated ceasefire violations by Pakistan and warned Islamabad of "a befitting reply" by the Indian Government to the "provocative" firing and shelling along the border in Jammu and Kashmir.
"Pakistan should remember there is a new Government in power now. What they are doing at the border is provocative and intolerable. India will not bend before these tactics used by Pakistan and will give them a befitting reply," the Information and Broadcasting Minister said.
The exact sequence of events at the Line of Control (LoC) and International Border (IB) with Pakistan will be out before the public very soon, the BJP leader maintained.
"The people of India should know that our soldiers are facing the situation at the border bravely and giving it back to Pakistan in an equal measure. The exact sequence of events that have taken place on the border will be out before the public very soon," Javadekar said.
As per officials, five villagers were killed and 34 injured on the Indian side in heavy mortar shelling and firing from across the IB and LoC in Jammu and Poonch sectors yesterday. This was the 11th ceasefire violation along Indo-Pak border in Jammu and Kashmir in the last four days.
According to BSF on Tuesday, Pakistan Rangers targeted 40 Border Out Posts and 25 hamlets by resorting to heavy mortar shelling and firing along the IB in Jammu and Samba districts since last night, leaving three persons injured.
