THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The review committee headed by Chief Secretary P Prabhakaran has recommended reinstating controversial police officer Tomin J Thachankary in the state police.Thachankary was placed under suspension in April last year by the former Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan for violating the service rules while making trips to foreign countries. The review committee which had Home Secretary K Jayakumar an bd Director General of Police Jacob Punnoose as its members, is learnt to have recommended that there was no issue in reinstating Tomin Thachankary. The review committee had earlier sought the report from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on the investigation being made against Thachankary.The investigating agency is learnt to have opined that there was no need for placing Thachankary under suspension since it would not affect the investigation in any way. The review committee submitted its report to the Chief Minister and sources in his office said that Oommen Chandy is yet to see the report.In his post-cabinet briefing, the Chief Minister said that he was to see any file regarding this.
