BHUBANESWAR: Senior BJD leader and Rajya Sabha member Pyarimohan Mohapatra on Wednesday alleged that a party MLA has given ‘supari’ to a gangster to eliminate him. “A Kolkata-based gangster has been hired by an MLA of our party. I will not disclose the name of the MLA. I will tell everything to the Chief Minister,” Pyari told media persons here.The Rajya Sabha member said he was warned recently by a retired SBI employee that a Kolkata-based gangster Sunil Dutta had been hired to eliminate me.“I feel that there is threat to my life as six people are roaming in the State carrying my photograph. I have informed the police,” he said. Four armed guards were posted in front of my residence. Pyari said the henchmen of the gangster are roaming around in a vehicle and this was meant to intimidate him, he said.Pyari further alleged that about 50 musclemen were seen roaming near his residence at Saheed Nagar on Tuesday night. “We could go to sleep only at about 3 am after police drove them away,” he said.On the reason behind being the target of the ‘conspirator’, Mohapatra said the group wanted to eliminate him in order to target the Chief Minister. “There is a group of conspirators wanting to fulfil their interest by creating difference between me and the Chief Minister,” Pyari said, adding, he had been working hard to safeguard the interests of both the Chief Minister and the regional party.
