Patna Blast: NIA recovers 18 live bombs in a raid near Ranchi
NIA has recovered 18 live bombs in a raid in Sithio village near Ranchi on information of IM operatives arrested by NIA in May.

Ranchi: NIA has recovered 18 live bombs in a raid in Sithio village near Ranchi. six sets of three timer devices connected in series were found after digging out the fields. The recovery has been done on information and personal identification of IM operatives arrested by NIA in May in connection to the Patna blast that took place in October 2013.

"Recovered timers, wires and bombs were similar to nature of bombs used in Patna blasts in October 2013," said Nisha Murmu, DSP Ranchi.

In May, four suspects including a man Haidar was arrested from Ranchi in connection to the case. Haidar is believed to be the head of the Ranchi module of the IM which carried out the Patna blasts. Those arrested also include Mujibullah, Numan and Taufiq. They had all been nabbed from their ancestral village of Sithio on the outskirts of Ranchi.

Eight blasts had rocked Patna in October 2013 just ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Hunkar rally, while he was campaigning for the Lok Sabha elections. Seven people had lost their lives in the a series of blasts.
