Patna: One more person has been arrested and two people have been detained by the National Investigation Agency in the Patna serial blasts case. Sources say that the suspect, Uzair, has been arrested for providing funds to the blast conspirators.
The police are still on the lookout for the alleged mastermind, Indian Mujahideen leader Tehseen Akhtar. Two teams of the Patna police will go to North Bihar on Thursday to conduct searches.
Meanwhile, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi will be in Patna on Saturday and will visit the families of the blast victims. This even as Additional DGP of Gujarat has claimed that he had written a letter to his Bihar counterpart about a threat to Modi's life, but the Bihar police didn't respond to this correspondence.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Home Ministry accepted the request of the Bihar government to transfer Patna blasts case to the NIA. Nitish Kumar had written a letter to the Home Ministry to hand over the blasts case to NIA.
"Nitish has written a letter to us to hand over the case to NIA. We are handing over the case to the NIA," said Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde. Nitish on Wednesday met Sushil Kumar Shide in New Delhi to discuss the Patna blasts case.
However, Nitish continues to deny any security lapse on the part of his government even though the Centre says intelligence inputs were passed on to the state government ahead of BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi's Hunkar rally in Patna.
"I have mentioned even during my press conference that calling it a lapse is just simplification. This is called comprehending the situation. You must understand. Now we are coming to conclusions and we will be careful herein ," Nitish said after the meeting.
However, the BJP doesn't want to let go any opportunity in targeting the Bihar government. "The Bihar Chief Minister has not met the families of the blasts victims yet but Narendra Modi will meet the families of all the six people who lost their lives in the blasts on November 2," said BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi.
Meanwhile, the Bihar Police and NIA sources have confirmed that a total of 18 bombs were planted in Gandhi Maidan. "Police are searching for three undetected bombs," sources said.
