New Delhi: In the latest twist in the Amar Singh phone tapping case, the Central Forensic Science Laboratory in Hyderabad has said the voice in the tapes is indeed Amar Singh's. The Delhi Police had sent a copy of the tapes to the CFSL for testing, but not for voice matching.
The report caught Delhi Police by surprise. The police said the tapes weren't meant for voice matching.
Meanwhile, the Samajwadi Party leader has filed a fresh petition before the Supreme Court seeking judicial probe into the incident of telephone tapping.
Delhi Police's Joint Commisioner of Special Cell, Mr Karnail Singh, said: "The tapes were indeed sent to Hyderabad in Amar Singh phone tapping case, but that was not for voice matching."
The Delhi Police had sent some CD records in English and Hindi for further investigation and analysis in the phone tapping case to ascertain some vital facts.
The frensic experts, however, said Amar Singh's 'voice test' was not yet complete as the entire material has not been made available to them.
In yet another development, the Delhi High Court has reserved its order on Delhi police's petition seeking to restrain the Special Task Force of Uttar Pradesh police from conducting a parallel probe into the phone-tapping allegations of Singh.
Reserving the order after hearing the arguments of the two sides, Justice R C Jain said the court's interim order on January 20 restraining UP police from conducting a parallel investigation into the case would continue till a final order was passed.
