BANGALORE: Karnataka High Court on Tuesday dismissed the petition that sought action against former forest minister Chennigappa for building an orphanage and a school without getting permission.
Further, the HC imposed a fine of `50,000 on the petitioner. The minister's advocate produced all the documents that stated that all permissions had been taken to start the orphanage and the school. The petitioner's advocate kept pressing the matter. The Division Bench comprising Chief Justice J S Khehar and Justice H G Ramesh observed that the court felt that the PIL had turned private and clearly transgressed the jurisdiction of the PIL.The bench directed the petitioner to deposit `50,000 to Bangalore Mediation Centre within three months. Also, the court directed the registry to list a case after three months to start proceedings against the petitioner if he fails to submit the amount.
