ALUVA: Police personnel led by Ernakulam Rural police chief Harshita Attaluri conducted a districtwide raid to bust the sales of banned tobacco products in the shops on Monday evening.
At least 20 cases have been registered in various police stations in this connection. There were several complaints about the sale of tobacco products such as Pan Parag and Hans especially near educational institutions in the rural district. Banned tobacco products have been seized from shops in Kuruppupady, Piravam, Kunnathunad, Vadakkekkara, Munambam, Aluva, Oonnukal, Muvattuppuzha and Varappuzha.

Meanwhile, acting on the instruction of Excise deputy commissioner K Mohanan, the Ernakulam Excise AntiNarcotic special squad led by CI A S Renjith raided various areas in Kothamangalam taluk and seized ganja from two persons.

There were reports that large quantity of narcotics were brought from High Ranges and sold in various areas in Kothamangalam.
