GULBARGA: A four-year-old boy, who was kidnapped on March 30, was rescued by police here on Monday. Superintendent of Police Praveen Pawar told reporters here that six persons, including a woman, were arrested in this regard.Sharanaprakash alias Omprakash was kidnapped when he was playing in front of his grandfather Ningappa Hirekurubar’s house at Sulepet of Chincholi on March 30. On March 31, kidnappers called up Ningappa demanding a ransom of Rs 10 lakh. They threatened him of killing the boy if police were informed about the kidnap. The boy’s father lodged a complaint at Station Bazaar police station on March 31.To rescue the boy, four investigating teams were constituted under the leadership of Chincholi Deputy Superintendent of Police B D Dodmani, the SP said.The kidnappers had asked the boy’s family members to keep Rs 10 lakh near Ambabhavani temple near Mannaekhalli of Humnabad taluk on National Highway 9 on April 4.As per their direction, Raju kept the said money but the kidnappers managed to make away with the money though the police were keeping a vigil. Acting on a clue that the boy was spotted on Anantgiri hill on Hyderabad-Tandur National Highway of Andhra Pradesh, police rushed to the place along with Dharur police of Andhra Pradesh and rescued the boy on April 5, the SP said.Following clues, police raided many places on Sunday and arrested main accused Deepak, Santosh, Nandkumar (student), Rajashekhar, Ashok and Monika. Monika, who is a resident of Sankarpally of Andhra Pradesh helped the other accused by keeping the boy in her house for five days for a ransom of Rs 50,000, the SP said.The police recovered Rs 8.26 lakh from the accused. Another accused Ganesh is absconding.A reward of Rs 20,000 will be given to the teams that nabbed the kidnappers, the superintendent of police said.
