CHENNAI: Former DMK minister K Ponmudy and Santhi, who were arrested in connection with a land grabbing case relating to the then Thanthai Periyar Transport Corporation (TPTC), were granted bail by the Madras High Court on Monday.Santhi was the secretary of the TPTC Residents Welfare Society. Considering the fact that the investigation in the case had been completed and the final report had also been filed, further incarceration of Ponmudy and Santhi was not necessary, Justice T Sudanthiram, who granted them bail, said. They could be released on bail on their executing a personal bond for Rs 50,000 each with two sureties each for a like sum to the satisfaction of the CJM in Villupuram. They should appear before the police concerned as and when required, he said.
