BHUBANESWAR: The Jana Andolana Samanyaya Manch on Sunday staged a demonstration demanding cancellation of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) with South Korean company Posco for establishment of a steel plant near Paradip. A rally was taken out by the organisation from the Master Canteen square and went up to PMG square where a protest meeting was held. Banabasi Suraksha Parishad Convenor Kandhamal Narendra Mohanty presided over the meeting. Lok Shaakti Abhijan president Prafulla Samantray, Binapani Das of the SUCI, Samajwadi Party State president Rabi Behera, convenor of Jana Adhikar Manch Dandapani Mohanty and other leaders addressed the meeting. Demanding that land acquisition for the Posco project should be stopped immediately, the speakers wanted police and para-military forces deployed in the project site to be withdrawn. They also criticised the Government for arresting leaders of the Jana Andolan Samanyaya Manch.
