The state government confirmed the gangrape of the victim who had 12 injuries on her body including a lacerated wound in pelvic region according to the autopsy report even as it remains to arrive at any concrete conclusions in the case. The government is however clueless over the person involved in the crime.
Senior IAS officer Sutapa Sanyal who has been assigned as the special investigation officer in the case told newsmen here that the case was still blind and no one was apprehended or arrested so far.
“There is every likelihood that the crime was committed by more than one person. The post-mortem report carried by a team of six doctors and a forensic expert revealed that she had 12 injuries including one lacerated wound. She however said that four police teams were questioning some people but have not arrested anyone so far.
“We have not apprehended anyone but we are questioning people. We have not reached to any conclusions as of now,” she added.
Additional Director of Police (ADG) Sutapa Sanyal visited the crime scene where a woman was found murdered and gang raped on Thursday. Sanyal, who is investigating the matter, told media that conclusions can only be drawn after going through forensic and autopsy reports.
