Pre-monsoon rains on Wednesday brought the much needed respite to the people from hot and humid weather in parts of Rajasthan with Kajuwala recording the maximum rainfall of four cm in last 24 hours, a MeT department report said.
Bikaner, Sriganganagar and Hanumangarh districts witnessed 1-3 cm of pre-monsoon rains, it said. Mercury further plummeted by one to three degree C at most places in the state including Ajmer, Chittorgarh, Pilani, Udaipur, Bikaner, Churu, Ganganganagar, Jodhpur and Barmer where the maximum temperature was recorded between 35.6 degrees C and 39.5 deg C.
Kota was the hottest with the maximum temperature touching a high of 40.8 degree C in the state. Rajasthan had been witnessing hot and humid weather. Thunder shower or squall may hit north-west of the state in next 24 hours due to pre-monsoon activities, a forecast said.
The state weather department has already projected arrival of monsoon by July 6 or 7 following the fresh activity in Bay of Bengal of the southwest monsoon.
