CHENNAI: Reiterating his commitment to redress cases of corruption in the council, the newly-inducted president of the Tamil Film Producers Council, SA Chandrasekaran, said committees would be formed to look into cases of corruption in the producers council and their finding used to punish those producers found guilty of fudging accounts or conducting malpractise in the council. This was assured at the first meeting convened of the 27 new office-bearers, elected to the council on Sunday. He was elected president for the term of 2011-13 in the elections, with TG Thyagarajan of Sathyajothi Films and T Siva elected vice presidents, K Muralidharan and Thenappan elected honorary secretaries and producer Dhanu elected treasurer. Twenty one executive committee members, including actor-producer Karunas, Radharavi, editor Mohan, director-producer Shakthi Chidambaram and RK Selvamani, were also elected to the council.Referring to objections placed by certain producers against the acceptance of the previous annual reports of the council, SAC asked those producers who had complaints to submit it in written form, and assured that those found guilty will be punished. The Rs 40-lakh worth building in the South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce Complex, which has been unused for more than two years, would also be used by the new team, he said.Regarding the welfare of small and senior producers, SAC said the monthly allowance of 3,000 presented to 65 senior producers as anbu thogai, would be renamed as rightful earning (urimai thogai) and hiked to ` 5,000 per month .
