BANGALORE: The Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) Chairman P B Ramamurthy on Friday said that the board will send a proposal to the state government to hike the water tariff in another fifteen days duration. On the sidelines of the interaction between the Peenya industrialists, Ramamurthy said, “If the government approves the transmission company’s proposal to hike the power tariff by 88 paise, 75 per cent of the BWSSB’s revenue will go for electricity charges and we are already facing a funds crunch. Therefore, the water tariff hike seems inevitable, if the government approves our proposal to do so.” At present the the water supply board is paying around 60 per cent of its revenue for power charges.
