HYDERABAD: Design and technology lie at the heart of Formula 1, both of which have a deep relationship with the city. Add some speed to the mix and you will find Hyderabad’s most passionate motorsport fans. What better way to show-off the city’s passion for race cars than when the Red Bull Racing Can series comes visiting? Red Bull Racing Can (RBRC) is about designing and racing remote-controlled cars whose bodies are crafted with Red Bull cans. Red Bull Racing Can was organised in the city on Tuesday at National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) to find the champions. Twelve teams from seven educational institutions participated in the race. Winners are as follows: Murtuza A H and A Akshay from MLRITM, Ashish Mehta and Sailesh Singh from Bhavans and Atul Chandan and Amit Kumar from NIFT secured the third position. Winners from the city will take part in the national championship at Delhi, where they will get to meet a driver from Red Bull Racing, which is an F1 team. RBRC, a worldwide racing series, is underway in 25 countries. In India, the event will be staged across seven cities - Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Pune. The most efficiently designed RC car will be accorded pole position in the race. Besides success on the track, contestants should also aim at catching the judges’ eyes with creativity in the designs.The champion team from India will go to the Red Bull Racing headquarters in Milton Keynes, UK and compete with successful teams from other countries for the Red Bull Racing Can world title. The finals will be conducted at Milton Keynes so as to give these youngsters an opportunity to learn about designing and racing an F1 car.
