Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who commissioned INS Sandhayak at the naval dockyard in Vizag on Saturday, said the vessel will strengthen India’s role as a superpower in the Indo-Pacific region and check piracy.

The defence minister took to X and wrote, “I feel that INS Sandhayak will further strengthen India’s role as a superpower in the Indo-Pacific region. I convey my hearty best wishes and congratulations to the Indian Navy on the commissioning of “INS Sandhayak”.”

He wrote, “Just as it is important to know yourself, it is also important to know your surroundings. Only if you are well aware of the areas around you, you will be able to achieve the objective of protecting yourself and others.”

He added that the Indian Navy was not only committed to stopping piracy in the region, but also committed to making this entire region peaceful and prosperous.

“The aim is to stop illegal and unregulated fishing in the Indian Ocean and Indo-Pacific region. The Navy is also stopping narcotics and human trafficking,” he said.
