Melbourne: While the weightlifting team is embroiled in the doping controversy, it's the shooting contingent that’s bringing glory to India in the 18th Commonwealth games.

Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore claimed the gold medal in the Men's Double Trap shooting event. Rathore, who shot to fame with his Olympic silver in the same category, fired a total of 181 (137+44) to win the gold.

Stevens Walson of England took the silver with a total of 180. Williams Chetcuti of Malta grabbed the bronze with 179 points.

In badminton, India's star shuttlers Chetan Anand and Anup Sridhar comfortably sailed into thequarterfinals of the men's singles badminton event.

Fourth seed Anand trounced Stephan Beeharry of Mauritius 21-14 21-16 in the prequarterfinals at the Melbourne Exhibition centre.

National Champion Anup Sridhar continued to excel as he drubbed Newzeland's top shuttler Geoffrey Bellingham 21-10 21-10 to advance into the last eight.

Sridhar, who played a vital role in Inda's bronze medal win in the mixed team event, has a tough draw ahead as he meets top seed Chong Wei Lee of Malaysia on Friday.
