BANGALORE: With absolutely no civic sense, it might be common for some citizens in our city to generally urinate  at public places. Such citizens end up either getting scolded or cursed by the passers on, disgusted by this unseemly behaviour. But if you see any citizen ‘relieving’ himself in and around Vyalikaval, then please beware, before you give him a mouthful. The public toilet which was built some 2-3 years ago is not serving this purpose and has been closed for almost a year now. When City Express visited Rajmahal Guttahalli Ward under Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), we found that residents who visit the playground and park at 1st Main Road, Vayalikaval, one the areas under the ward, complain about the closure of the public toilet. When we spoke to some of the residents to find out the reasons for the same, Jayapal, a businessman said, “The toilet has been closed as there is no water supply. Many visiting the playground during the early morning for walking, jogging and for practicing various sports find it very difficult. Therefore, some youth relieve themselves at the corner of the playground.”The visitors to the playground demanded that the Palike should take measures for re-opening the toilet as the money spent on the construction of the toilet was not negligible enough to close down the toilet itself.Suresh, a resident said that the bore well which was supposed to supply water to the toilet was not maintained. “The motor which draws out water was burnt and therefore, the bore well is now out of order. It can be attended to and water can be pumped out if the motor is repaired,” added Suresh. On  a positive note, we found that the footpaths are being occupied by vehicles, shrinking the walking space of pedestrians from 2nd Main Road, Vinayaka Circle. We have found that the citizens of the ward were more aware on how to segregate their garbage into dry wastes, plastic wastes, bottles, and others. The area corporator M Vijaya Kumari. was unavailable for any comments.
