THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The reorganisation of the state unit of the Congress will be a smooth affair maintaining the upper hand that Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala have now in the party.‘’Consensus will be the thumb rule for the revamp,’’ Chennithala told ‘Express’ on Friday, before flying back to the state after meeting UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and other party leaders in New Delhi.Factors such as the stance of A K Antony, Vayalar Ravi or V M Sudheeran will not be allowed to affect the equation between Ramesh and Chandy. It is understood that Chandy and Ramesh had reached an understanding before heading for New Delhi two days ago not to encroach on each other’s territory in the organisation, including district committees.‘’There will not be any compromise on the declared stance that MLAs and MPs will not be given any party post. Those heading boards and corporations will also be kept out. It will be ‘one man one post’. The only exception will be the KPCC president as the Congress high command had already made a nomination after considering several factors for the wellbeing of the state unit,’’ Chennithala said.‘’All sections, including young leaders, will be inducted as office-bearers after discussions. The focus will be on invigorating the organisational structure and providing necessary support for the smooth functioning of the govt,’’ he said.‘’The total revamp will come soon,’’ he said when asked about the deadline for the exercise. ‘’I don’t want to create any friction in the relationship between the party and the govt,’’ he added.
