Roadside quacks cheat youth of Rs 3 lakh, 3 held

Three persons were arrested on Saturday for cheating some youths of over Rs 3 lakh by selling fake ayurvedic medicines to them.

The three, in connivance with an ayurvedic drug store, tricked the youths into believing that they had some serious sexual problems. They prescribed ayurvedic cure for the problems and made them buy the drugs at exorbitant rates.

Following a complaint by the younsters, police nabbed three members of the gang and seized two small bottles of ayurvedic powder, nude photos of victims and an amount of Rs 40,000 from them besides bills in the  name of Shiva Shakthi hospital. Two other gang members are absconding.

The accused are identified as Sanjay (23) and Nekpal (45) of Maharastra and Lakhan (20) of Karnataka, a worker at Chandan Ayurvedic.

According to the complaint lodged by Mohammed Imran (23) and his friends, they went to the roadside tent shop near Satyam Reddy petrol pump in Langerhouz on July 12 and met Sanjay and Nekpal with regard to their problems. They had the youths examined by one Mahender who declared  that they were suffering from a disease.

He prescribed them one gram of ‘Sanan Sundari Raas’ and made them buy the drug from Chandan Ayurvedic medicine shop by spending Rs 3,27,500. When their ‘problem’ was not solved, the youths realised they were cheated.
