THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A sum of Rs 63.7 crore will be granted for special repairs of Sabarimala roads. Briefing mediapersons on the Cabinet decisions, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said it has been decided to grant special approval for repairing all roads linked to Sabarimala. PWD will undertake these works. Roads given to district panchayats will be taken back by the PWD. The Thrissur -Palakkad road had become unfit for traffic. As the road came under the control of the Central PWD, it will be asked to take steps to solve the traffic bottleneck on this route.Chandy said as part of the ongoing efforts to improve transparency in governance, a new file tracing system called “Ideas” would be introduced. Anyone can locate files and its status under the system. New information could be uploaded at any time.Special Scheme He said that in the background of increasing atrocities against women and children in the state, a special scheme would be formulated to check this trend. The new policy would be formulated by a committee led by poet Sugathakumari. Mallika Sarabhai, Sunitha Krishnan and Lida Jacob will be the members of this panel. Social Welfare secretary Sarada Muralidharan will be the convener. The committee will prepare long-term and short-term plans. Nissar Panel Replying to a question on termination of the Nissar Commission, he said that as the government had constituted the commission it had the right to terminate it.
