HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) is planning to introduce two-tier air-conditioned and non- air-conditioned buses soon for the convenience of the passengers.RTC vice-chairman and managing director B Prasada Rao gave his approval to purchase 30 non-AC and four AC two-tier buses. According to officials, the buses would be 12 metres in length and 2.59 metres width. The height of interiors would be more than normal buses.  There will be 20 seats and 10 berths on the right side (drivers side) and 10 seats and 5 berths on the left side (conductor side). The officials were contemplating to give some offers to passengers travelling in these buses.The AC bus costs around Rs 40 lakh and non- AC bus Rs 35 lakh, RTC executive director G Jaya Rao said.He said over 150 buses are being operated by the Gujarat Road Transport Corporation successfully. MB Motors of Ahmedabad  and Mohendra Bodybuilders of Jaipur are manufacturing these buses, he said.The APSRTC has decided to operate these buses from 15 district headquarters to Hyderabad in the first phase and later extend to other districts.  The RTC officials strongly believe that these buses would generate good revenue to the corporation.The APSRTC has introduced various schemes to increase the revenue to overcome the loses.
