Sandy: Romney urges supporters to remember victims
Calling it a 'devastating hurricane', Romney said 'a lot of people are going to be facing some real tough times' because of it.

Avon Lake: Mitt Romney is urging supporters to donate to the Red Cross or other relief agencies gearing up to help storm victims. In one of his last campaign appearances before suspending those events as Hurricane Sandy came ashore, Romney also called on supporters in the path of the hurricane to remove yard signs that could become dangerous projectiles in windy conditions.

Calling it a "devastating hurricane", Romney said "a lot of people are going to be facing some real tough times" because of it. Although he campaigned on Monday in Iowa and Ohio, Romney canceled events planned for the evening and Tuesday.

His staffers had considered keeping him on the campaign trail, away from the storm - but they were concerned about the image of him politicking while millions of people faced grave hardship. President Barack Obama also cut short a campaign trip on Monday, and returned to the White House from Florida.
